North Korea fires 60 rounds of artillery near Yeonpyeong Island

North Korea’s shells touched down on Friday and Saturday in a buffer zone established by an agreement to reduce tension that was signed in 2018 but broke down in November after the North launched its detective dish.

The defense in Seoul stated on Saturday that” North Korea’s ongoing artillery fire within the prohibited angry work zone poses a danger to the peace on the Vietnamese Peninsula and raises tensions.”

They “issued a powerful warning” and urged North Korea to put an immediate end to these actions.

According to the JCS,” North Korea continues to threaten our citizens with continuous artillery fire within the prohibited unfriendly act zone,” following its claim that the” September 19 Military Agreement” has been completely nullified.

It stated that” In reaction, our army will take appropriate precautions to protect our society.”

” NOIMPACT!”

North Korea claimed on Friday that its live-fire training on the frontier islands had not even had” an implicit effect.”

Yeonpyeong, which has a population of about 2,000, is located 115 kilometers east of Seoul. With a population of 4, 900, Baengnyeong is located about 210 kilometers north of Seoul.

Seoul half suspended the 2018 military agreement in November in retaliation for Pyongyang sending a detective satellite into orbit. Pyongyang therefore completely canceled the agreement.

North Korea bombarded Yeonpyeong Island in 2010 in response to a live-fire drilling near the sea border, killing four South Koreans—two men and two residents.

Since the Korean War in 1950–1953, that was the first strike on a human area.

As the two sides exchanged more than 200 shell, South Korea returned fire in an change that lasted for over an hour, briefly raising concerns about a full-fledged battle.

After North Korean leader Kim Jong Un enshrined the nation’s status as a atomic energy into the law while test-firing some sophisticated inter-continental ballistic missiles, relations between the two Koreas are at one of their lowest points in years.

Kim called for a build-up of the nation’s military army and warned at year-end policy meetings that conflict was “break out at any time.” Kim also warned that the South would be attacked by nuclear weapons.

Kim reportedly demanded the ramping up of missile rocket production on Friday, according to KCNA, “given the prevailing burial situation that requires the state to be more strongly prepared for a military fight with the enemy.”

His remarks came after the White House charged North Korea with arming Russia with missile missiles and nuclear weapons. This has been referred to as an increase in Pyongyang’s assistance for Moscow by Washington.

The 1950–1953 conflict between the two Koreas ended in an armistice, not a treaty, and the majority of their border is seriously fortified; their disputed maritime border has never been formally delineated.
