North Korea censors sunglasses, weddings and slang - report

A fresh report has revealed that North Korea is systematically cracking down on everything from wedding gowns to language as it attempts to counteract the effect of the South.

Based on the testimony of thousands of sympathizers, the report, which was released by South Korea’s Unification Ministry, is based.

It includes the case of a 22-year-old who was executed after admitting listening to South Korean music and distributing films, first reported by the BBC last year.

North Korea described last week’s report as” libel and fabrication”, but has yet to listen to the new file.

According to the collected records, searches of houses have increased since 2021, with officers looking for signs of outdoor lifestyle, news agency Yonhap reports.

Wearing a white bridal dress or the man lowering the bride on his back are said to be symptoms.

Women’s devices are also being searched and checked for slang from South Korea in texts and emails, it adds.

Glasses have also been deemed booth- revolution, the document says, despite North Korean leader Kim Jong Un being know to lord a piece. His father, however, also labelled certain everyday clothes items as counter- revolutionary- including jeans.

What exactly the punishment is for these crimes is not known.

However, the crackdown on South Korean- made culture appears more severe.

Watching or distributing South Korean entertainment was made death-forbidden by a 2020 law.

A 22-year-old farmer was killed for listening to 70 songs, watching three films, and distributing them, according to a report from this year’s report, which was previously made public by the BBC.

It is believed to be the only instance of an execution being carried out under the “reactionary ideology and culture rejection law” to have recently surfaced.

A video from earlier this year showed two teenagers being sentenced to hard labour for a similar crime.

The South Korean report was released as a result of the nation’s growing hostility toward its neighbors.

Since last month, The North has sent more than 2, 000 garbage-filled balloons across the border, some of which have parasites inside.

Relations between Kim Jong Un and Vladimir Putin strained even more after their last meeting last week.

It is notable, then, that this is only the second time the report has been released, despite having been compiled annually since 2018.

In order to prevent North Korea from prodding them, they had previously been kept secret.
