Nobel laureate Yunus arrives to lead Bangladesh, says will be guided by students

After months of crime that left about 300 persons dead and hundreds of others injured, Hasina’s Awami League party has been left out of the interim government.

Sajeeb Wazed Joy, her brother, claimed in a Facebook post that the group was prepared to talk with its allies and the time state.

He said on Wednesday,” My home will no longer be in politics, but the way our group leaders and employees are being attacked, we never give up.”

CALM OPPOSITION Panders

The foundation of a lender that gave small loans to the poor as a model for the fight against hunger in 2006 earned Yunus the Nobel Peace Prize.

After winning a third consecutive term in January, Hasina’s departure from the nation she ruled for 20 of the previous 30 years sparked fervor and assault as crowds erupted and stormed her official property.

She is residing at a military bottom close to New Delhi, which Yunus claimed angered some Bangladeshis by claiming to be American citizens.

The student-led motion that oversaw Hasina’s ouster was the result of protests against restrictions in government jobs that sparked a violent assault that attracted international outcry, despite the government’s claim that it used excessive force.

The country, which was born after a 1971 liberation war from Pakistan, had severe economic conditions and political repression there.

The main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party ( BNP ) boycotted two national elections after the arrest of its leaders, while the COVID-19 pandemic damaged the US$ 450 billion economy after years of strong growth, leading to high inflation, unemployment and shrinking reserves.

The International Monetary Fund requested a US$ 4.7 billion product from the Hasina authorities in response.

After being placed under house arrest on Wednesday, Hasina’s archrival and BNP head Khaleda Zia, 78, demanded quiet and an end to violence in a video message from her doctor sleep to hundreds of followers.

” No death, revenge or vengeance”, she said as the BNP demanded elections in three decades.
