Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Tuesday shrugged off rumours he is grooming a political successor.
The premier, who recently emerged from a hiatus after the Constitutional Court ruled he could resume his duties and potentially serve as prime minister for another two years, insisted he had no plan to name a political heir.
Since his tenure now has a fixed deadline, even if he survives the general election next year, speculation over his succession plans has been growing.
Gen Prayut declined to comment when asked if former national police chief Chakthip Chaijinda could end up filling the void left by any of the so-called three Por generals — Gen Prayut, Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwon or Interior Minister Gen Anupong Paojinda.
