SINGAPORE: There are no reports of Singaporeans directly affected or injured in an attack on a Christmas market in Germany, Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs ( MFA ) said on Sunday ( Dec 22 ) morning.
MFA even advised Singaporeans in Germany to , avoid filled areas.
Five people, including a nine-year-old baby, were killed after a car ploughed through a group in the eastern European capital of Mageburg on Friday night. More than 200 people were even injured, lots thoroughly.
” Singapore condemns the brutal attack”, said an MFA director. There is no way to justify for attacks on innocent citizens. We wish the injured a rapid recovery and send our thoughts to the victims and their families. In this difficult and agonizing time, we show our support for the German citizens.
In the state of Magdeburg, the Singapore Embassy in Berlin has eRegistered Singaporeans in contact with the Embassy. According to MFA, the consulate is also in close touch with local authorities to see if any Singaporeans were affected.

The suspect, who was arrested at the picture, is a , 50-year-old Saudi psychology doctor.  , Taleb al-Abdulmohsen held firmly anti-Islam opinions and was unhappy with Germany’s immigrant and shelter plan, officials said on Saturday.
Abdulmohsen described himself as” a Saudi atheist” in an unpublished interview with AFP from 2022 for an unrelated history. Germany’s Interior Minister Nancy Fraser said he held” Islamophobic” views.
MFA advised , Singaporeans in Germany to following local information and follow the guidelines of the local government.
” They should be diligent and take the necessary precautions, including avoiding crowded places, and particularly the affair page near the Magdeburg , Alter Markt , city”, added the government.
