BURI RAM: Police investigators are still unsure whether a man whose body was found burning behind a school near his home in Prakhon Chai district a day after he returned from Germany was murdered or committed suicide.
Pol Maj Gen Rutthaphol Naowarat, chief of Buri Ram provincial police, said on Wednesday that investigators were still collecting and compiling the evidence. This included examining security camera recordings from the area. At least 10 peoiple had been questioned as witnesses.
The autopsy report was still awaited from the Police General Hospital’s Institute of Forensic Medicine.
At this stage, investigators could not conclude whether the man was murdered or committed suicide. The cause of death should be clearer in 2-3 days, Pol Maj Gen Rutthaphol said.
Thanatat Chankae, 23, was found dead, his body on fire, in the grounds of Ban Salaeng Thon School in tambon Salaeng Thon of Prakhon Chai district on Monday night, about 500 metres from his house.
Banyat Wonma, a caretaker, discovered the body when he arrived to work the night shift about 8.30pm.
His wife Yupaporn Kesaro, 22, earlier told police that her husband arrived home after returning from Germany on Sunday night. A party was held to celebrate her birthday on Monday night, and during that time her husband disappeared.
