Nippon Steel, Sumitomo renew long-term contract with Equinor to supply pipes

Japan: Japan’s largest chipmaker, Nippon Steel, and buying home Sumitomo Corp said on Wednesday ( Jul 3 ) &nbsp, that they have renewed a long- word deal with Norway’s Equinor to provide seamless steel pipes for up to nine years.

The pipelines will be used in Norway and other countries for carbon capture store (CCS) as well as oil and gas development.

For the past 35 years, Japanese companies have been providing piping products, known as oil country tubular goods ( OCTG), to the Norwegian energy company for oil and gas production.

Individual statements from both Chinese companies indicate that Nippon Steel and Sumitomo intend to expand their long-term cooperation with Equinor in the electricity market.
