A African man was detained by traveler police for cocaine possession and overstaying for almost nine times in the Koh Phangan area.
Officers from Tourist Police Division 3 apprehended Kenneth Nnwanelobi, 47, at a motel in Moo 8 of tambon Koh Phangan on Saturday. The arrest was a result of a crackdown on foreigners engaged in constrained employment and illegal activity on this visitor isle.
Guest police inspector Pol Lt Col Winit Boonchit, who led the group, said Mr Nnwanelobi was reportedly part of a Nigerian-led, well-organised drug gang. When officers asked the Nigerian for his card to be seen in the resort’s hall, he tried to flee into his chamber. In the front-left wallet of his clothes, a subsequent search revealed two packets of methamphetamine weighing 31.5″ grams. Mr. Kenneth acknowledged that he had the methamphetamine seized and that it was intended for sale to foreigners.
