According to Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Narumon Pinyosinwat, Thailand and Italy are negotiating a memorandum of understanding ( MoU) on agricultural cooperation that will cover production, trade, and investment.
A fresh MoU is required, according to Ms. Narumon, who met with Italy’s Minister of Agriculture, Francesco Lollobrigida on Monday.
At the conference, Mr. Lollobrigida stated that Thai and Italian leaders discussed ways to increase the growth of their respective agricultural fields, including the possibility of boosting two-way imports and exports.
Mr. Lollobrigida added that Italy is willing to support the Thailand-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA ) by assisting Thailand in improving its sanitary and phytosanitary practices and its sustainable food systems.
Between January and September this month, Thailand’s exports to Italy increased by 3.32 billion ringgit to 11.88 billion baht.
Important import products included pet food for retail, frozen jellyfish products, natural rubber, smoked plastic plate, partially-milled corn and milled corn, processed bass products, fruits and vegetables.
In order to help the Thai administration’s soft power development plan, Ms. Narumon mentioned the possibility of facilitating information exchange between velvet producers and fashion designers.
Because Italy is the nation’s chief in style, the deals even touched on the possibility of an exchange of knowledge on silk fabric production and design.
