Netherlands commemorates 10th anniversary of MH17 airline disaster

AMSTERDAM: The Netherlands commemorated the 298 subjects of flight MH17 that was shot down over Ukraine 10 times before with a service attended by the bereaved and staff from Malaysia, Australia, the UK, Belgium and Ukraine.

On July 17, 2014, as fighting raged between pro-Russian separatists and Russian troops, the forerunner of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 was shot downward over eastern Ukraine.

All passengers and crew on board, including 196 French people, were killed, leaving the jet’s aircraft and the bones of the patients scattered across areas of corn and flowers.

During the meeting, which took position at the MH17 statue in the town of Vijfhuizen near Amsterdam, loved people read out loud the names of all the patients.
