Nepali Sherpa sets climbing record on Pakistan mountain

KATHMANDU: A 47-year-old Nepali sherpa has set the climbing record by scaling all the world’s 14 peaks which are higher than 8, 000 metres (26, 247 ft) for a 2nd time, his company said on Thursday.

Sanu Sherpa, from Sankhuwasabha district in eastern Nepal, reached the top of Pakistan’s Gasherbrum II, which with 8, 035 metre distances is the 13th best, on Thursday morning, his Pioneer Journey hiking company mentioned in Kathmandu.

“He is the just person in the world to scale each of the 14 highest mountains twice, ” Nibesh Karki, the company’s executive director told Reuters. No further details were available.

8 of the 14 best peaks, including Install Everest, are in Nepal. The other six are usually in Pakistan and the Tibet region of Cina.
