Mates, a beloved Australian soap opera, has been canceled once more two decades after it was saved by Amazon MGM Studios.

Without specifying a purpose, Amazon confirmed the set may end at the end of 2025- 40 decades and more than 9, 000 episodes after its television comeback.

It was initially canceled by Channel 5 in 2022, but Amazon resurrected it for its streaming platforms only four months after a dazzling goodnight show that was watched by millions.

The shampoo, which helped establish Kylie Minogue, Guy Pearce, and Margot Robbie’s careers, has long enjoyed a huge following in both American and English audiences, and it received its initial Emmy nomination last year.

A statement on the show’s cultural internet said the shampoo may be “resting” from December.

Executive developer Jason Herbison wrote,” We are extremely proud of the great victory over the last two years, and people all around the world have loved and embraced Mates.

We value the loyalty of the fans to Neighbours and think there will be more tales of the Ramsay Street residents to show, Mr. Hebrison said, implying that the producers will once more look for a new supporter.

Up until the end of 2025, new episodes may be broadcast on Amazon Prime Video and Channel Ten in Australia four times per year.

In a speech, Amazon MGM Studios said it was “proud” to include played” a little piece” in Local history.

” Forty years is an amazing milestone”, a spokeswoman said.

Mates, which was set and filmed in Melbourne, was first broadcast in Australia in 1985 and was first broadcast on BBC One a year later.

In response to queries about how well it reflected contemporary Australia, the show has recently featured more different personalities and plots. The second same-sex union was shown on American television during this episode.

It also had its disputes, yet. A number of actors lately made allegations of prejudice, which prompted manufacturing company Fremantle Media to claim to publish a review.

News of the show’s cancellation comes after actor Ian Smith – who plays Ramsay Street stalwart Harold Bishop – last year announced he would leave the show, revealing he has terminal cancer.
