Navy asks women not to wear bikinis on its beaches

The navy does not stop women wearing sexy bikinis on its beaches but asks visitors for their cooperation within not doing so, out of regard for Thai culture, its spokesman stated on Friday

VAdm Pokkrong Monthatpalin said the particular navy asks that visitors not wear bikinis on the beaches for the sake of “order and in accordance along with Thai culture plus tradition”.

He was responding to a July twenty-seven Facebook post around the “Quotidien de Thailande” account of a photo showing a “No Bikini” sign on Koh Samae San, away from Chon Buri state. The island can be navy territory.

VAdm Pokkrong said such signals were aimed only at pursuading visitors not to wear sexy bikinis. The navy did not ban bikinis.

The signals were being eliminated and would be changed with new ones  to create a better knowledge of the navy’s purpose to encourage a conservative form of travel and leisure, the spokesman said.

Koh Samae San is a tourist attraction however it is under the legislation of the navy, this individual said. The number of guests was limited and they also were not allowed to remain overnight, drink alcohol or gather in loud groups.
