Naval cadet looked tired, disoriented before death, Coroner’s Court told

IPOH: The late naval cadet official J. Soosaimanicckam has been looking tired plus disoriented the morning prior to his passing away, a Coroner’s Court here heard.

Leftenan Muda responsibility officer R. Rashwin, who was previously attached with KD Sultan Idris 1 (KDSI 1) camp in Lumut, said Soosaimanicckam appeared tired during schooling.

Rashwin stated a few minutes into education, Soosaimanicckam told him that he was exhausted, and asked for a break.

“I informed him to sit on a bench, and asked him three times if he necessary to go to the hospital.

“However, he clarified no, and after 10 minutes sitting on the along with, he still failed to look well.

“I found it weird as to why he was so tired, and he was simply staring blankly; and that is when I asked your pet if he wanted to go for a walk, plus together, we strolled until the cadet’s hostel, ” he stated before Sessions Court judge Ainul Shahrin Mohamad who sitting as Coroner.

The Coroner’s Courtroom is probing the cause of the cadet’s dying during training in the naval base on May 19, 2018.

Soosaimanicckam was pronounced dead at the Lumut Armed Forces Medical center.

He had documented for duty upon May 12, a week before his passing away.

Zaid Abd Malek, who is portion of Lawyers for Liberty, is representing Soosaimanicckam’s family, DPP Evangelin Simon Silvaraj may be the inquest’s handling officer while Human Rights Commission of Malaysia’s watching brief lawyer is Cheang Lek Choy.

Whenever questioned by Zaid on what happened within the hostel before he or she was brought to a healthcare facility, Rashwin said this individual found him within the toilet.

Captain Jamsari Tahir, who was the chief coach and commanding officer at the time of the event, said there were a number of cadets in the exact same batch whose services were terminated due to health reasons.

He said there was about two or three cadets who had to keep in the middle of training.

When Zaid inquired what the cadets had been suffering from, Jamsari mentioned kidney failure.

“So what are the reasons that these cadets abruptly suffer from kidney failing, ” asked Zaid.

To this, Jamsari replied it was probably due to heat cerebrovascular accident being the main reason.

Cheang asked Jamsari on the hours required for the cadets to coach under the sun, to which he replied around three hours.

“Is it usual intended for cadets to maintain injuries on their legs and elbows due to training like the one particular Soosaimanicckam suffered, ” he asked.

Jamsari said that was part of the normal coaching, and there is a large possibility that additional cadets would suffer the same kind of injuries as well.
