SINGAPORE: The National Research Foundation ( NRF ) and Agency for Science, Technology and Research ( A*STAR ) will get new chief executives later this year.
Mr John Lim Hua Ern will be CEO ( designate ) of the NRF and chief ( designate ) of the , Public Sector Science and Technology Policy and Plans Office ( S&, TPPO ) from Sep 1, the NRF announced on Thursday ( Aug 29 ).
On October 1, he will step down as the Ministry of Social and Family Development’s ( MSF ) deputy secretary ( Opportunity and Resilience ), and he will also take over as NRF CEO and S& CFO.
The current CEO of the NRF, Mr Beh Kian Teik, will be CEO ( designate ) of A*STAR from Oct 1, the Ministry of Trade and Industry ( MTI ) said in a press release.
On November 8, he may take Frederick Chew’s place as A*STAR’s CEO. On October 1, Mr. Chew did also step down as S& S&P CEO.
NEW NRF Director
Mr. Lim joined MSF in September 2016 and is in charge of plan preparation, planning, and distribution of programs and social service for the most vulnerable people and communities.
He played a key role in the creation of activities like the Enabling Masterplan 2030 and ComCare, a program to assist low-income families in paying for basic life expenses.
During the COVID-19 crisis, he led an MSF work force to protect the health and well-being of old people in the commission’s private houses.
” He also chaired an inter-agency work pressure to handle payouts from The Courage Fund, to help about 8, 000 homes and communities, 4, 800 care and frontline workers, and recognise around 40, 000 healthcare and social service staff who stepped up with courage in our fight against COVID-19″, said the NRF, a department within the Prime Minister’s Office ( PMO).
Mr. Lim previously held the position of the Ministry of Education’s regional director of higher education, as well as various positions at the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Public Service Division, and the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
He is a member of the board of the JTC Corporation, Agency for Integrated Care, and Gambling Regulatory Authority, as well as a Company Member of KidSTART Singapore Ltd. Prior to joining the Charity Council and the Building and Construction Authority, he likewise held other positions on the table.
NEW A*STAR Director
Since August 2022, Mr. Beh has served as the NRF’s CEO.  ,
” Mr Beh played a key role in shaping the goals and priorities of the Research Innovation and Enterprise ( RIE ) 2025 plans, and oversaw the implementation of key programmes”, said MTI.
Through NRF’s Foundational Research Capability research, he even made a sharper focus on keeping Singapore’s fundamental analysis at the forefront.
To further advance clinical research and price generation, he collaborated attentively with A*STAR, the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, and other financial organizations.
