The Education Ministry will alter its rules to record e- cigarettes in the prohibited category of narcotics, Suthep Kaengsanthia, continuous secretary, said on Wednesday.
Mr. Suthep stated that the department wants to combat the growing use of e-cigarettes among students and has mandated that all schools nationwide take action to combat vape use in schools.
According to Mr. Suthep,” We have changed our regulations to place e-cigarettes in the prohibited group of opioid medicines.”
” The penalty for individuals who bring e-cigarettes to school will be severe and comparable to the penalty for having illegal pharmaceuticals,” he said.
The Council of State is considering the article, he said, adding that the government anticipates implementing the new rule within the quarter.
Mr. Suthep noted that the government has even spearheaded a job to encourage safety in all sectors.
He claimed that the project aims to protect individuals from the time they leave for class until they return home.
Education officials may work with organizations like the local authorities, the public health office, and the drug-supression officers to accomplish this.
The officers will also work to raise awareness among learners about various social dangers, he added. No additional details were available.
