Najib arrives in High Court for 1MDB trial two days after being incarcerated

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak arrived at the High Court on Thurs (Aug 25) early morning for his 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) embezzlement trial.

He is dealing with four charges associated with using his place to obtain bribes, totalling RM2. 3 billion dollars (US$513 million) within 1MDB funds, and also 21 charges pounds laundering for the same funds.

This was their first appearance in public since being delivered to Kajang Prison upon Tuesday, after the Federal Court dismissed his final appeal bid in the SRC International case.

Based on Bernama, Najib, who had been clad in a grey suit, arrived at the complex at 6. 26am in a dark sports utility vehicle escorted simply by police vehicles.

He then entered the courtroom, which has since been barricaded, Totally free Malaysia Today documented.

Sin Munch Daily also reported that Najib had not been handcuffed.

Within an Instagram post on Wednesday night, Najib’s daughter Nooryana Najwa Najib said that associates from Najib’s legal team met along with him in Kajang Prison.

“Daddy is in healthy problem and his fighting soul is still strong. Daddy’s basic needs were provided for plus daddy was used to his brand new route – completely different from bossku’s daily plan that was always loaded, ” she published.  

Bossku is Najib’s moniker. It means “my boss” in Malay slang.

She additional: “Tomorrow, the whole family will be able to meet – dad will be going to court for that 1MDB case demo … This is the first-time we look forward to daddy’s presence in court because me and my family will be able to observe daddy’s condition, even though from afar.  

“We wish to say thank you to the officers and guards from Kajang Prison for taking care of daddy. ”
