According to the National Anti-Corruption Commission ( NACC), there is reason to believe that four Revenue Department officials in Samut Prakan province acted dishonestly by amassing wealth worth two billion baht that they were unable to explain.
In his capacity as deputy NACC spokesman, Sornchai Chuwichian, assistant to the secretary-general of the National Capital Region, stated that the findings in this case would be forwarded to a committee of attorneys general ( OAG ), which will decide whether to indict the four officials in the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases. The NACC is requesting that the court use the OAG to capture the officers ‘ goods that had been illegally acquired.
According to Mr. Sornchai, it also suggests that the Revenue Department fire them for reportedly breaking the 2018 natural laws on corruption destruction and prevention.
One standard, Danai Damrongchaiyothin, had 1.18 billion ringgit in seven bank balances, according to the NACC. He has n’t given a good enough account of how he came to amass such wealth while serving in government.
It was discovered that the accounts of the other three suspects, Chonlathon Khongman, Duangkamon Pleumsawat, and Uthomphon Khemwichian, totaled 559.94 million ringgit, 334.24 million and 1.88 million, both. They were unable to persuasively discuss how they had acquired the funds, according to Mr. Sornchai.
Former assistant transport secretary Ormsin Chivapruck, who along with five different parties were accused of being involved in a 2016 coastal erosion protection project, has been exonerated in an NACC investigation into the case of buying price collusion.
The project’s bid effect was approved by Mr. Ormsin while he was the past Prayut Chan-o-cha administration lieutenant transport minister. Samila Beach is in Songkhla province. He was charged with purposefully excluding a company from the 269 million ringgit project’s online bid on January 25, 2016.
However, the committee determined that there were no specifics or pieces of evidence that could be used to support the claim and decided to dismiss the case against Mr. Omsin.
According to Mr. Sornchai, five Marine Department employees were also under investigation for allegedly hastily signing the site’s design contract before the losing bidder could file an appeal.
