Political activistRuangkrai Leekitwattanais seeking a corruption probe against Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin for allegedly omitting to declare his wealth and certain senior executive positions he once held.
Mr. Ruangkrai claimed to have petitioned the National Anti-Corruption Commission ( NACC ) to look into alleged contradictions in Mr. Srettha’s financial and personal statements when he assumed office as prime minister and finance minister on September 5, 2013.
He claimed that on Monday, the petition was sent via the NACC’s express mail service ( EMS ).
According to Mr. Ruangkrai, Mr. Srettha re-declared his money and previous posts on June 17 as required by law after taking office.
He claimed that the distribution from Sept. 5 and the June 17 charter both reveal at least two anomalies.
The value of Mr Srettha’s property remained exactly the same nine months after assuming company, at 659, 391, 610.70 baht.
Two items, according to Mr. Ruangkrai, were discovered missing from the prime minister’s property declaration: digital currencies under the name SiriHubA fair 2, 907 baht, and 197, 048, 69 ringgit in cash. Mr Ruangkrai said the declared things were for 199, 955.69 ringgit.
He added that Mr. Srettha had held executive positions as president and leader of Sansiri Public Company Limited in 2021, according to the NACC’s established website.
But, neither Mr Srettha’s Sept 5 and June 17 property statements mentioned the two jobs.
Mr. Srettha claimed it was inexcusable because the company’s annual report from April next year evidently listed the two highest positions, but Mr. Ruangkrai claimed it was because he had forgotten details.
Mr. Ruangkrai stated that he has officially requested that the NACC check whether the primary minister had kept a log of all his possessions and positions, whether there had been any missing information in the declaration, or whether the products had been withheld in violation of NACC rules.
