Aung San Suu Kyi, the former leader of Myanmar who has been imprisoned, is ill, and the military leaders of the nation have rejected her request for an outside doctor to visit her, according to a source familiar with the situation and her supporters’ shadow government on Tuesday( Sep 5 ).

Otherwise, the 78-year-old Nobel laureate has received care from a prison ministry physician.

The source, who asked to remain anonymous out of fear of being arrested, stated that the woman was experiencing swelling in her cheeks, may not have also, and was feeling lightheaded in addition to vomiting.

A spokesperson for the Myanmar military dictatorship declined to respond to Reuters calls.

Since the military overthrew Aung San Suu Kyi’s elected authorities in early 2021 and cracked down on critics of military law, with thousands of people imprisoned or killed, the Southeast Asian nation has been in upheaval.

Aung San Suu Kyi has been imprisoned for 27 times for 19 legal offenses. She has been suing against all the charges against her, including bribery, election fraud, and provocation.

She was transferred from jail in Naypyitaw, the nation’s capital, to house arrest in July.

The exiled National Unity Government of Myanmar, which was established by opponents of military law and the remnants of Aung San Suu Kyi’s prior administration, claimed that the military coup was in charge of providing political detainees with medical and security.

According to Kyaw Zaw, a spokesperson for the National Unity Government, the global community should put pressure on the junta to provide all political detainees, including Aung San Suu Kyi, with care and security.

Aung San Suu Kyi and hundreds of different political prisoners have been demanded to be released without conditions by a number of governments, and some, including the United States, the European Union and Great Britain, have imposed sanctions on the navy of the Southeast Asian nation.
