Myanmar junta makes rare request for foreign aid to cope with deadly floods

Myanmar’s junta chief made a surprisingly rare request for foreign aid on Saturday ( Sep 14 ) to deal with the deadly floods that have displaced hundreds of thousands of people who have been enduring three years of war.

In Myanmar, Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand, nearly 300 people have died as a result of Typhoon Yagi, which poured a sizable amount of rain down the area next trip.

The coup reported on Friday that more than 235, 000 people had been forced out of their homes in Myanmar as a result of the country’s ongoing civil war, which has continued since the war came to power in 2021.

According to the Global New Light of Myanmar news,” Officers from the government must call unusual places to request that they be given rescue and relief assistance.”

” It is necessary to maintain recovery, relief and treatment procedures as quickly as possible”, he was quoted as saying.

33 people died on Friday, according to the coup, while earlier, the region’s fire department reported that volunteers had recovered 36 bodies.

A military spokesman said it had lost touch with some parts of the nation and was looking into accounts that tens had been buried in floods in a northern Mandalay region’s gold-mining area.
