On Wednesday, fighting between the military and cultural armed parties in Shan state continued.
According to its Major-General, Tar Bhone Kyaw, Ta’ang National Liberation Army ( TNLA ) fighters were fighting junta troops in the Shan state towns of Hsipaw and Naungcho.
For comment, AFP has contacted the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army ( MNDAA ), a second group fighting in northern Shan.
Earlier this month MDNAA soldiers captured the government’s northern demand in the city of Lashio, house to about 150, 000 people.
The junta’s first action against them since the government’s 2021 coup sparked a rare public rebuke of the best generals by its supporters.
