Myanmar ethnic groups seize more outposts in junta offensive

The junta declared on Saturday that it would retaliate against the attacks on its forces because the Kachin Independence Army( KIA ), another ethnic armed group based in a neighboring state, had joined them.

The KIA’s headquarters are located in the isolated city of Laiza, which is on the Chinese border, and local media reported that the junta had shelled it.

AFP has made an effort to get in touch with the TNLA and KIA for opinion.

At a continuous police station about 50 kilometers up the valley from the border crossing of Chinshwehaw, which the Myanmar military claimed on Wednesday it had lost command of, AFP editors were stopped on Saturday in China’s Yunnan state.

Due to recent safety concerns about continuous clashes occurring across the border, Chinese policemen claimed that only people living beyond the checkpoint or those who had received special authorization was now complete.

An officer informed AFP that” we are now in specific circumstances.” No one may enter unless absolutely needed.

As part of a planned billion-dollar track route in its Belt and Road system project, China called for an immediate peace in Shan state on Thursday.

More than a few ethnic armed groups call Myanmar’s borders present, some of which have fought the war for decades over independence and control of beneficial resources.

Additionally, there are ground disputes with militias that support the military over illegal activities like prostitution, online scams, casinos, and drug smuggling.
