BANGKOK: As a result of forecasts of snowfall rain, save and aid workers in a country rife with civil war, the death toll from Myanmar’s destructive earthquake has reached 3, 000, with hundreds more absent.
A 28 million-strong Southeast Asian region was shaken by the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that hit on Friday ( Mar 28 ), one of the strongest in a century, by toppling buildings, flattening communities, and leaving many without food, water, and shelter.
On Wednesday, there were 3,003 murders, with 4,515 of those who were hurt and 351 of those who were missing, according to the Japanese government’s website for Myanmar.
Conditions officials warned that inclement rain from Sunday through April 11 could threaten the hardest-hit areas of the earthquake, including Mandalay, Sagaing, and the capital Naypyidaw, making the situation even more difficult.
A humanitarian employee in Myanmar told Reuters,” Rain is coming and there are still so many buried.
People who are buried in Mandalay may kill yet if they have survived up until this point, especially if it starts to rain.
