Myanmar ambassador to China died on Sunday: Sources

BEIJING: Myanmar’s ambassador to China and taiwan died on Weekend (Aug 7), according to diplomatic sources, your fourth ambassador to perish in China in past times year.

Ambassador U Myo Thant Pe was last seen upon Saturday meeting a nearby official in the southwestern Chinese province associated with Yunnan which borders Myanmar, according to a local news report.

Three diplomats briefed about his moving told Reuters he died on Weekend while travelling within Yunnan. Diplomats and something report in Myanmar media said the reason for death is likely to be a heart attack.

The Myanmar embassy failed to immediately respond to a query for remark.

U Myo Thant Pe had been appointed ambassador to China in late 2019 and stayed in the post after Myanmar’s military took strength in a coup in February 2021.

Three other best foreign envoys to China have passed away in the past year.

German ambassador Jan Hecker, 54, died in September, lower than two weeks into their Beijing posting. Ukraine ambassador Serhiy Kamyshev, 65, died within February during or even shortly after a visit to some Beijing Winter Olympics venue.
