Muar cops nab three over human trafficking, rescue six foreigners

MUAR: Police have arrested three local suspects for allegedly being involved in human trafficking activities here.

Muar acting OCPD Supt Muhammad Aidil Roneh said that police carried out an operation and raided two premises in Jalan Abdul Rahman and Jalan Abdullah here at around 4pm on Monday (Sept 5).

“Police arrested three suspects, including a female, between the ages of 27 and 62 years old for allegedly being involved in human trafficking activities.

“Besides the arrest, police also seized mobile phones and relevant documents from the suspects to assist with the investigation,” he said here on Tuesday (Sept 6).

He also said that following the arrest and raids, police successfully saved six female foreigners between the ages of 20 and 35 years old who had fallen victim to a human-smuggling syndicate.

It is learnt that the victims, all Indonesian nationals, were working as cleaners at premises including houses around here.

Supt Muhammad Aidil added that the case was being investigated under Section 12 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants (Atipsom) Act 2007.
