MP Zhulkarnain appointed as chairman of Government Parliamentary Committee for Home Affairs and Law

The People’s Action Party ( PAP ) announced on Monday ( Jul 1 ) that MP Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim has been appointed as chairperson of the Government Parliamentary Committee ( GPC ) for Home Affairs and Law.

The MP for Chua Chu Kang replaces MP Murali Pillai ( PAP- Bukit Batok ), who was sworn in as the minister of state for law and transportation the same day.

Mr. Zhulkarnain was formerly the GPC’s assistant chairperson.

Classifiers are set up by the PAP to “scrutinise the policy and schemes of the different ministries”, according to the group’s website. They provide an extra avenue of evaluation of state laws. &nbsp,

In the 2020 General Election, Mr. Zhulkarnain was elected as the MP for Chua Chu Kang GRC. He is one of Dentons Rodyk’s older partners.

He was accepted as an activist and counsel in 2006 after graduating from the National University of Singapore in 2005. Additionally, he graduated from the Singapore Management University with a Masters of Law in Islamic Law and Finance. &nbsp,

Mr Zhulkarnain is a member of the Quotes Committee, which examines the president’s Budget.
