A climber in New Zealand” miraculously” avoided suffering only minor injuries after falling 600 meters( 1, 968 feet ) down the side of a mountain.

According to the police, the man was saved by spring wind that softened the snow and caused him to land in winter after falling from Mount Taranaki on the North Island.

The man is” extremely lucky to be alive ,” according to the authorities.

The Makkah Clock Royal Tower in Saudi Arabia, one of the tallest structures in the world, is equal to the height at which he fell.

Additionally, it is almost twice as tall as the Shard in London, which rises 309 feet into the clouds.

On Saturday, September 9, around noon, the man, who was portion of a group scaling Mount Taranaki, fell from the peak.

Another member of the group descended to try and find them after seeing their own climber slide down the mountain and disappear, according to the police.

On that particular moment, a Taranaki Alpine Rescue representative even happened to be climbing and assisted in finding the injured man.

The Mountain Safety Council of New Zealand lists Mount Taranaki as one of the deadliest hills in the nation.

From the same location where the trip man fell, two climbers perished in 2021.

On the east coast of New Zealand’s northern island, Taranaki is a dormant mountain that is relatively isolated.

Its isolation from other hills, close contact to the coast, and geographical location make for some of the fastest-changing and unfavorable weather conditions found anywhere in New Zealand, according to The Mountain Safety Council.

” The environment is incredibly unique because of the conditions and the complex and difficult terrain. A single error could become fatal.
