After successfully preventing travellers from swarming the place, a barrier constructed to obstruct a common view of Mount Fuji has been removed.
Authorities in Yamanashi district installed the challenge in May after getting sick of foreign visitors ‘ littering, poor park, and anti-social behavior.
Authorities in the city of Fuji Yamaguchiko confirmed that the grid camera would be closed for the time being after the challenge was removed last week in preparation for a typhoon.
However, if visitors return in large numbers therefore screen would come back up, authorities said.
” We wanted to see what would happen”, an official told AFP media organization.
” Some people also visit the place, but we no longer see many people immediately rushing out into the transportation crossing the road.” We feel like it has been powerful”, he added.
A Lawson convenience store was obscured by the challenge, which obscured its watch, with Japan’s most recognizable landmark rising in the background.
Its location is a particularly popular photo spot for tourists looking to get the best” Japanese” picture because of the comparison between one of Japan’s most pervasive shops and the soaring mountain.
However, the residents of Fujikawaguchiko were unappreciative of the local convenience store’s popularity as a” Mount Fuji Lawson,” particularly in a year when Japan experienced record levels of hospitality.
” They cross the street and they do n’t seem to care about the cars at all, it is dangerous. And they leave cigarette butts and garbage everywhere, according to a local resident who spoke to the BBC in May.
