More than 50 die in two Pakistan accidents

More than fifty people have been slain in two separate travel-related accidents in Pakistan on Sunday.

A minimum of 41 people died when a bus dropped into a ravine and caught fire within the south-west, while in the north-west at least 10 kids drowned in a sailing accident.

All the dead recovered so far at the lake were aged between 7 and 14.

In the bus crash web site, a local official stated the bodies were “beyond recognition”.

The crash occurred close to the southern city of Bela, in Balochistan State, when it was visiting the port city of Karachi.

Local standard Hamza Anjum informed AFP news agency that 40 physiques were found alongside three injured people, one of whom passed away shortly after. The two outstanding survivors were inside a “serious” condition.

The bus reportedly hit a pillar on a bridge prior to the crash.

“We will investigate the causes of the accident, ” Mr Anjum said, adding that DNA tests would be used to determine the identification of the remains.

The boat capsized on Tanda Dam, a lake close to Kohat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, close to the border with Afghanistan.

Local police official Mir Rauf told AFP that as well as the 10 who passed away, 11 children have been rescued, with 6 in critical situation. Another nine are believed to be missing.

The boat these were travelling on has been carrying more than 2 dozen people on a daytrip from a local madrassa – Islamic school – when it overturned.

“A rescue operation is under way, ” Mister Rauf said.

Furqan Khan, the deputy commissioner of Korat, told Reuters presently there had been incidents during the past and police got closed the river for recreational outings.

Video footage simply by local broadcasters and on social media showed rescuers in the water.
