More floods hit Mae Sai as market bears brunt

Lee RAI: Mae Sai neighborhood residents have had to deal with another round of damage after more floods hit the area after recovering from an inundation during the rainy season.

The Sai Lom Joy business on the banks of the Sai River in the Mae Sai area is reportedly flooded as a result of heavy storms that occurred on Thursday evening.

According to a local source, the storms have not yet had an impact on the adjacent Lung Khon Wood Market and Muang Daeng Road.

The state’s Mae Sai and Muang districts were likewise ravaged by extreme storms in September.

The debate on hazard reduction in the Muang and Mae Sai regions was led by acting governor Chotnarin Koedsom, who was joined by authorities from the Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office and the Irrigation Office.

The conversation focused on power and water flowing in important river, including Kok, Lao, Sai, Ruak, and Mekong, based on data studies from August to September.

The board, according to Mr. Chotnarin, agreed on a number of infrastructure measures to reduce flooding, including improving urban planning and building controls, removing property from the rivers, and dredging the rivers, constructing water retention walls, and improving water retention and drainage.
