Their state Railway of Thailand (SRT) has proposed that the cabinet consider approving an realignment in the budget ceiling for the three extension lines of its Reddish Line electric commuter train service in response to the rising cost of construction work.

SRT chief excutive Nirut Maneephan upon Monday revealed that due to rising energy prices, the present trade rate and pumpiing, costs have improved beyond foreseeable limits.

“Therefore, the construction plan and budget roof of the Red Line’s three extension tasks will need to be adjusted, prior to the Transport Ministry submits the proposal towards the cabinet for authorization, ” Mr Nirut said.

The extensions would be the 14. 8-km Taling Chan-Salaya line, the 5. 7-km Taling Chan-Siriraj line as well as the 8. 84-km Rangsit-Thammasat University line.

In February 2019, the cupboard originally set this ceiling for the Taling Chan-Salaya line in 10. 2 billion dollars baht.

However , Bang Kruai Electricity Generating Power of Thailand Station and Saphan Rama VI Station, were added, which prompted the SRT in order to ask the cupboard to increase the budget to 10. 6 billion dollars baht.

In March the same year, the cabinet set the budget roof for the second Taling Chan-Siriraj line on 1 . 95 billion baht, but because of changes to the carriage procurement, ticketing program and maintenance it had been revised upwards in order to 4. 69 billion dollars baht.

Finally, the last collection was given a budget with the cabinet last year associated with 6. 57 billion dollars baht. But which was reduced to six. 46 billion baht following a revision from the layout and a decreased expropriation outlay.

The SRT expected to launch the bidding for the three extensions now appreciated at 21. 8 billion baht right at the end of the year, Mr Nirut said.

The SRT is planning to propose that the Transport Ministry should seek personal contractors to supervise the operation from the train service as well as to carry out necessary repair of the complete set of six extensions to the Crimson Line.

If approved by the particular cabinet, the bidding is expected to end up being launched sometime during or before 2024 and it has been approximated that the project can generate 580 billion baht during the concession period.
