Sumarwan claims to be one of only two people in this region of North Jakarta who can massage cattle for the most significant vacation in the Islamic calender.
His cow shop is hidden within a wooden livestock market where hundreds of cow and goat sellers trade.
As vehicles and trailers storm by on the road overhead, the animals look unworried.
But the industry’s location is ideal despite the visitors, Sumarwan said, sheltered by the bridge from Jakarta’s humid heat and bursts of heavy rains.
He continued,” The cattle must be healthy in order for it to be abandoned,” one of the requirements.
For a calf that looks bad, Sumarwan applies a salve typically reserved for people.
” SOMETHING UNIQUE”
One of the many makeshift markets in Jakarta that sells animals for the Muslim tradition, in which cattle are slaughtered and distributed among the poor, is known as the wooden market.
Kastono, Sumarwan’s manager, has run his animal sacrifice company for 15 times, bringing cattle from Central Java to buy in Jakarta.
” This time, we bring 50 cattle and 120 animals. We often start selling 25 times before Eid as- Adha”, said Kastono, who employs 10 employees.
A cow weighing 250kg can sell between 20 million rupiah and 27.5 million rupiah ( US$ 1, 225 and US$ 1, 685 ), according to Kastono’s wife Meta.
And running the pets happy and healthy is crucial for business.
