Monkeypox: Kedah Health Dept to increase border surveillance

PENDANG: The Kedah Health Department is definitely collaborating with the Thai government to increase supervising of Malaysia-Thai border areas in the state, following the current monkeypox infection in that country.

State into the local government committee leader, Datuk Dr Mohd Hayati Othman, stated that the move has been to avoid any risk of the virus spreading to the state, since it borders Thailand.

He said their state health department furthermore constantly monitors and obtains early home elevators the development of the disease in that country.

“Thus far only the shot is able to prevent an infection and we encourage individuals who want to go to neighbouring countries to take the vaccine first, being a preventive measure.

“We have yet to detect individuals coming back from Thailand along with symptoms of the virus contamination, ” he informed reporters after officiating the Pas ashura perdana programme within Pendang on Thursday (Aug 25).

It was reported documented that the Thai govt issued a national monkeypox warning right after an emergency meeting of the health agency plus public health minister on July twenty-eight.

Dr Mohd Hayati said most of parties should be vigilant with this disease since it could spread to individuals through saliva, phlegm, mucus, and the patient’s breathing fluid.

“If any kind of Malaysians want to visit Thailand to eat, there is no problem because it will not spread through meals, just watch out for individuals around you, if you see someone with skin rashes, do not approach the individual, ” he said. – Bernama
