Moment BBC reporter returns tortured monkey into wild

Mini was rescued after a BBC Eye investigation that exposed a global online monkey torture ring.

After her mother’s death, she was expelled from the bush. Before she was saved, her user tortured her and recorded it for cruel customers primarily in the US and the UK.

Mini and her adopted home were determined ready to go back to the wild after two centuries of treatment at a shelter run by the Jakarta Animal Aid Network.

Rachel Henschke, a writer for BBC World Service, helped with her release after spending more than a year tracing down Mini and her torturers.

You can watch the full story on iPlayer in the UK and for international viewers on BBC World Service YouTube.
