Onn Hafiz Ghazi, the head of Johor’s top democracy, has appealed to the public for information on the whereabouts of a six-year-old girl who has been missing since Saturday ( July 20 ).

Mr. Onn Hafiz stated in a Facebook post that he had received a statement about the girl’s removal following an alleged breakup with her family in Johor’s Iskandar Puteri mall.

” I’ve received a report about a girl aged six who went missing on Jul 20, 2024 (at ) 8.30pm after separating from her family during a Bon Odori event in Eco Galleria, Iskandar Puteri, Johor Bahru”, Mr Onn Hafiz wrote on Facebook.

“( The ) police are working to find the child. I also ask that anyone who has knowledge or found her to contact the police station the closest.

Photos of the lady, reportedly taken at the occasion, soon made the rounds on social media, according to local papers.

The Bon Odori, a summer celebration that comes from Japan, has been held in some parts of Malaysia to encourage and strengthen ties between the two nations.

On Sunday, Iskandar Puteri district police chief assistant director (ACP ) M. Kumarasan issued a public notice for the missing child, who was later identified as Albertine Leo Jia Hui.

” We are actively investigating and need the people not to assume about the boy’s disappearance”, Mr Kumarasan had said finally.

Her father apparently last saw her on July 20 at around 8:00 p.m., and she was wearing shorts and a white t-shirt with Mickey Mouse designs on the chest.

Albertine is around 120cm large, with long black hair, local media reported.

An average of two children per day in Malaysia vanished between 2021 and 2023, according to a statement from The Sun in February.

According to the review, the majority of them were found or independently returned home.

According to ACP Siti Kamsiah Hassan, the officers discovered 709 of the 779 cases of missing children next year, according to ACP Siti Kamsiah Hassan, the head of the Bukit Aman Sexual, Women, and Child Investigation Division.
