Due to the absence of a vote, no decision has been made.
After yesterday’s bilateral income committee meeting was adjourned once more due to a lack of a vote, Labour Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn has apologised to all maximum wage earners who are looking forward to a regular wage increase of 400 baht.
However, the minister expressed hope that the next meeting could still be held as early as this week if the Bank of Thailand ( BoT ) makes a request for a new BoT representative on the committee in time to replace a retired BoT member from the previous year.
According to Mr Phiphat, the council comprises 15 users– five representing the state, including the BoT, another five representing people, and the other five representing the companies.
It is crucial to ensure that all council members are present at such a crucial meeting because any new choices by the bilateral committee require a two-thirds lot, he said. This justifies the cancellation of yesterday’s meeting.
According to Mr. Phiphat, Labour permanent secretary Pairoj Chotikasathien has now begun looking into how to organize the upcoming conference and is currently working with the BoT about hiring a board member.
The state was determined to push for the 400-baht regular rate, he said, even though the promised salary increase was unlikely to occur on Oct 1 as anticipated.
According to Mr. Phiphat, the lowest regular income was next changed in the country last year, when it was increased to 300 ringgit.
He claimed that the pay increase over the past 12 times was only about 8 ringgit per year on average, despite the ongoing rise in living expenses.
He refrained from accusing the government of buying time and claimed that it was not able to persuade the pay committee to adopt a proposal.
The state has a clear plan of pushing for the 400-baht required income, according to Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, but it needs approval from the bilateral commission.
She stated that the government will try to persuade the committee through discussions about raising the regular income in order to accomplish the goal.
When the PM asked if the employer contingent on the committee was stalling the proposed wage increase, she replied that she did n’t think so and that she still thought more in-depth discussions about the proposed increase with all three groups on the panel would be beneficial.
She continued,” She nevertheless believes it will come after this time.” She also said that the new timeline to raise the pay to 400 baht.
