Minister pledges to optimise trade, commerce

Pichai Naripthaphan, the minister of commerce, made the pledge on Saturday to boost and optimize trade and commerce while promoting green rise this year.

He stated that the ministry would carry out the Pheu Thai-led government’s policies under the new motto “eMpower, Optimise Commerce, and Sustainable Growth” ( MOC ).

In line with this theme, 80 % of the agency’s efforts will focus on strengthening business companies and landowners, with the remaining 20 % dedicated to monitoring to ensure business justice, he said.

In terms of independence, the government will also manage agricultural product prices, support little providers and expand their business opportunities, he added.

He added that efforts would be made to improve the value of goods through Geographical Indication ( GI ) and establish Thailand as a “food storage hub” to promote food stability in developing nations facing challenges to food security.

According to Mr. Pichai, the government would try to relax regulations that would support business operations and help brand.

His statement stated that SMEs that produce high quality products but are unable to develop their own businesses may be given the Thailand Brand.

AS also, the government will raise the Thai Select certification program, which guarantees value for Thai franchises both domestically and internationally.

The ministry will showcase border trade and promote negotiations for free trade agreements with important trade partners, particularly the European Union, to help exporters.

According to the secretary, this season’s scheduled signing of the Thailand-EFTA contract during the World Economic Forum may be Thailand’s initial FTA with European countries.

The European Free Trade Association ( EFTA ) has four member countries: Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. &nbsp,

Thailand already has 15 FTAs with 18 states.

He referred to trade justice as the ministry’s commitment to strict regulations to protect consumers from exploitation and to stop illegal business practices to ensure good competition.
