MHA warns against political campaigning, fundraising in Singapore for Indonesia’s presidential election

SINGAPORE: On Thursday, January 4, the Ministry of Home Affairs ( MHA ) issued a warning against political fundraising or campaigning in Singapore for Indonesia’s presidential election.

The ministry claimed to be aware of new online rumors that Indonesia’s upcoming election might be held on a platform in Singapore. &nbsp,

These include assertions that funds are intended to help specific candidates in Singapore.

On February 14, more than 200 million Indonesians did cast their ballots to elect the nation’s new leader as well as users of its nationwide, regional, and city-level governments.

The Singapore state, according to MHA, “takes a clear and strong stance against the importation of politics from different nations into Singapore.”

The government continued,” People visiting, working, or residing in Singapore should not use Singapore to carry out political fighting or funding to advance an international political plan.”

” We will deal vehemently with any person or group found to be engaging in such behavior, including closing immigration services.”

Singapore was allegedly one of three nations vying for control in Indonesia’s vote, according to a YouTube video posted in November 2023 by&nbsp, former head of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Abraham Samad. The United States and China are reputedly the other two nations.

The film, which has received more than 2 million views, features Mardigu Wowiek Prasantyo, a businessman and political analyst, as well as Mr. Abraham.

The two gentlemen asserted that there was funding for “certain member groups” in Singapore and that it might have come from “foreigners or elites.” The prospects were never given names.
