MFP can work with Pheu Thai, but not ‘junta’

The Move Forward Party (MFP) has expressed a readiness to work with the prime ministerial candidate of the Pheu Thai Party, but it will never join the cabinet if its members comprise both Gen Prawit Wongsuwon and Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, said the party’s leader.

MFP leader Pita Limjaroenrat made the remark yesterday in response to a question posed by an economic committee formed by the Pheu Thai Party which includes economic experts looking to tackle the challenges that the country is facing.

“MFP is always ready to work with Pheu Thai in terms of policy to find the best possible solution for society,” Mr Pita said.

“After the general election, the Move Forward Party is ready to work with the prime ministerial candidate of the Pheu Thai Party for a better future as we have always cooperated well as opposition parties and we would be the perfect cabinet to tackle any challenges,” he added.

Responding to rumours that many opposition parties would be willing to work with Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP) led by Gen Prawit, Mr Pita insisted the Move Forward Party will never join a junta disguised as the government.

“I will not join a government that has either Gen Prawit or Gen Prayut in it,” Mr Pita told reporters. “My party members and I will definitely not be found there.”
