PETALING JAYA: North Sumatra in Indonesia was hit by a magnitude 4.6 earthquake on Thursday (Oct 6) afternoon, says the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
In a Twitter post, MetMalaysia said the quake occurred at 4.31pm Malaysian time with its epicentre at 2.7° North and 99.8° East at a depth of 41km.
It added that the epicentre was 165km southwest of Sabak Bernam in Selangor.
MetMalaysia also warned that weak tremors might be felt in parts of Selangor, Perak, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Negri Sembilan.
It added that it was monitoring the situation.
