The lead singer of a well-known Thai steel group has been detained in Bangkok on suspicion of being a part of a gambling site that generates more than 50 million baht per month.

Officials from the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB ) apprehended Khiwatkarin Chaisuriyakul, the lead singer of Versus, at his apartment space in the Ramkhamhaeng place, Pol Lt Gen Trairong Phiewphan, CCIB captain, said on Friday.

Other members of the network connected to the gaming websites lenhuay365 and ufabet9 had previously been detained by police. They apparently encouraged customers to deposit money online, with online administrators offering advice on how to use applications and make money transfers.

Following a month-long investigation, authorities had obtained sufficient information to get search and arrest warrants for over 60 people who had opened animal bank accounts for the community, which had more than 50 million baht in circulation.

According to the CCIB captain, seven more imprisonment warrants were therefore sought for those responsible for the establishment of significant horse accounts. The soldiers raided three spots in the Bang Kapi, Wang Thong Lang and Navamin-Lat Phrao places in Bangkok.

They eventually managed to assault Khiwatkarin, who they said was in charge of the site’s bank accounts, overseeing platforms and withdrawing cash from ATMs in Bangkok. He was detained in the Ramkhamhaeng neighborhood of his property room.

Seized from him was a Mercedes-Benz A200, a computer, a cellular telephone and 58 bank certificates.

During doubting, Khiwatkarin, 37, told officials that he had been spending more than he earned. He was forced to look for ways to make more money as a result.

Versus posted a message on its Facebook page to inform people of the imprisonment.

“Now, Fueang ( Khiwatkarin’s nickname ) is no longer a member of the band. We, the four remaining associates, are not aware of Fueang’s sources of income. Everyone in our group, including music videos and songs, is evenly distributed among us. Hub Records has provided only monetary assistance to us.

“We feel shocked and sad, like people. Fueang was a great group associate who was effective at all times. Versus must then take a break for a while until the right time comes along or if someone can play the role of a singer in place of Fueang. ”
