The Ministry of Home Affairs ( MHA ) announced on Tuesday ( Nov. 5 ) that SINGAPORE: Meta will be given a notification under the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act ( POFMA ) over users ‘ reposting of false claims made by an anti-death penalty organization.

MHA reported 10 Facebook and 30 Instagram posts made by some people on October 23 and 24 that contained false statements made by Transformative Justice Collective ( TJC) on October 2.

The false claims were published in an essay on TJC’s web and posted on its Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and X&nbsp, sites. They were&nbsp, in relation to the timing of deaths in Singapore, and the trial of drug smuggling costs.

On October 5, TJC received a adjustment order. The following morning, TJC followed up and posted a correction notice on its content claiming that the posts contained false claims.

TJC had formerly received two POFMA modification orders &nbsp for making similar misleading statements regarding death row captives.

The precise correction directions also require customers to be provided with the website to the president’s clarification.

The clarity “lays out the lies and details for the community to observe, without requiring the removal of the original posts. Readers can read both the original content and the information, and then determine for themselves what is true, the department added.
