Meta apologises for removal of Malaysian PM Anwar’s posts on Hamas leader Haniyeh

KUALA LUMPUR: Meta&nbsp, Platforms apologised on Tuesday ( Aug 6 ) for the removal of content from&nbsp, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s Facebook and Instagram accounts related to the&nbsp, assassination&nbsp, of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh last week.

Malaysia&nbsp, had asked&nbsp, Meta&nbsp, for an argument after&nbsp, the messages expressing condolences over Haniyeh’s dying were&nbsp, removed.

A&nbsp, Meta&nbsp, spokeswoman said in an emailed statement that” we sorry for an administrative error where information from the prime leader’s Facebook and Instagram pages was removed and the information was restored with the proper significant label.

Malaysia’s communications secretary and users of the Prime Minister’s Office met&nbsp, Meta&nbsp, staff on Monday to pursue an argument.

” The Prime Minister’s Office views&nbsp, Meta’s activities as unfair, wrong and a blatant reduction of free expression”, the department said in a statement on Monday.
