Member of card-counting syndicate that won S$433,730 at MBS casino with baccarat ‘formula’ pleads guilty

SINGAPORE: A foreign syndicate member who won S$ 433, 730 ( US$ 324, 100 ) over the course of eight days of playing baccarat games at the Marina Bay Sands ( MBS ) casino entered a guilty plea on December 6 regarding the improper use of card counting equipment. &nbsp,

A 28-year-old Japanese man named Hung Jung-Hao admitted to three works under the Casino Control Act of conspiring to use a system to archive cards dealt while playing at the game. &nbsp,

In punishment, a number of additional similar charges may be taken into account.

Selling director Hung had an involvement in poker. While Chou Yu- Unit, 26, was employed by a poker association in Taiwan, he met her.

After meeting other people through poker game in Taiwan in soon 2021, they were persuaded to join the syndicate.

THE SYNDICATE’S PROCESSES

Based on the cards already dealt in activities of 7UP Baccarat, the gang, whose members are from Malaysia or Taiwan, used cards counting to increase the odds of bets.

The users also skew the odds of the activity in their favor using a covert method created by someone engaged in “advantage perform.”

An Excel plate was used to represent the solution. A man had to enter rules that corresponded to the beliefs and suits of the cards into an Excel sheet in order to predict the game’s following result.

Around December 15, 2022, the syndicate’s people arrived in Singapore and checked into a hotel room at MBS, where they were given jobs.

A sharpshooter was one of the functions; he would become stationed in the hotel room and ask the magician for details on the number of times the show’s machine shuffler rotated and the cards dealt. Depending on the results of the formula, the marksman also told the sorcerer how to place his second wager.

A female employee working at a stand inside the casino was the magician. Her lengthy hair may cover an earphone that she would use, and it would be Bluetooth-connected to her mobile.

She may get guidelines from the sniper and relay them to the tank and supplementary, who would place small and large bets, respectively.

When the dragon’s headset ran out of power, the supplementary was also given the responsibility of sending data on the cards dealt through the team chat.

THE Engagement OF HUNG

Hung was given the role of an supplementary. In order for his sweetheart, the magician, to concentrate on her role, he was instructed to engage in small talk with other guests at the baccarat table.

On December 16, 2022, Hung first became involved in the system after being taken to a casino table at the MBS casino and instructed on how to play the game and his part.

Before entering, he received S$ 100, 000 worth of casino cards, the same as the rest of the gang, and discovered how to calculate the number of shuffler movements.

Before being told to stop betting on his first ceremony, Hung won around S$ 10,000. He next went to a hotel room and gave another gang part his cash chips. The member debriefed him and talked with him about his “mistakes.”

The gang carried out its plan in full over 11 betting sessions, with Hung serving as an ancillary over the course of eight sessions.

His highest win in court records was S$ 89, 200 over the course of roughly three days on December 23, 2022. On his wife’s orders and after speaking with the sniper, he placed bets as an supplementary.

When Hung went to a room to give co-accused Tan Kian Yi some game chips during the betting time, he saw him using the formula.

Tan told him to stop because he was n’t supposed to see the formula when the man approached him.

On another situation, Hung expressed his admiration for the formula’s functionality to co-accusation partner Heng Yu-Wen and his desire to learn more about it.

Yu-Wen, but, allegedly declined to elaborate further, saying that few people were aware of it and that she had just started assembling a squad to use it.

According to court papers, she added that other groups had been established in Korea and the US using the same strategy to win money through Baccarat.

Hung therefore expressed interest in joining Yu-Wen for additional positions, but was instructed to concentrate on their Singapore-based function first. &nbsp,

When he inquired about the location of the future work, Yu-Wen replied that while the Philippines, the US, or Cambodia could all be candidates, Singapore was “more enjoyable” than the latter.

Casino staff started observing the syndicate members ‘ behavior by watching closed-circuit television (CCTV ) footage sometime between December 16 and December 23 of last year.

Hung went to the game alone on December 24, 2022, and security guards approached him and led him to a place. Afterwards, the police showed up and took him into custody.

The other gang people assumed Hung had been arrested and made the decision to leave when they were unable to get in touch with him.

Tan was one of those who escaped and was detained in Malaysia. In February of this year, he had planned to visit Taiwan. He was extradited to Singapore and given a 40-month prison sentence for his performance.

46-year-old Malaysian Chai Hee Keong, another co-accusant, was detained at Woodlands Checkpoint in June, and charges are still pending against him.

The gang made a total of S$ 433,730 from its eight-day operations at the MBS game in December of last year. There has n’t been any compensation.

Later this month, Hung will appear in court for prevention and imprisonment.
