Nearly 100, 000 rai ( approximately 39,500 acres ) of agricultural land in this upper northeastern province have been submerged, with Sri Songkhram district suffering the most from overflow caused by two significant Mekong River tributaries.
Flooded paddy fields are expected to suffer significant damage if Mekong levels do n’t drop in the next few weeks. The creek has been at almost 12 metres for nearly a fortnight, resulting in widespread flooding.
According to the most recent survey, almost 100 000 ray of agricultural property in Nakhon Phanom have been greatly flooded. In Sri Songkhram, over 55, 000 ray of rice grounds have been inundated.
Animals ranchers even experienced problems because they had to move their animals higher, which caused a shortage of animal feed. They have contacted the authorities for help in obtaining compressed grain straw.
People in Pak Oun community, located along the Nam Oun and Nam Songkhram river, have been relying on boats for transportation due to heavy flood, which has submerged about 20 to 30 houses. Around 300 homes in Tha Bo town in Tha Bo Songkhram have also been affected by flooding.
Ladda Seekanin, a 76-year-old Pak Oun citizen, said that her community is hit by the flow from the two rivers every year, but this year’s position is more intense.
She continued,” Both state and private organizations have been distributing relief supplies to the affected homes.”
