NAKHON PHANOM- The Mekong River has risen to more than 10 feet, raising concerns about possible flood.

On Friday, the water levels in this northeastern state reached 10.11 feet, just below the overflowing level of 12 feet. Heavy rain and north runoff are to blame for the rising waters.

Municipal officials have alerted authorities in at-risk regions, including Ban Phaeng, Tha Uthen, Muang and That Phanom towns, to plan for possible flooding in areas and economic zones.

The Nam Oun and Nam Songkhram rivers in Sri Songkhram region have likewise overflowed, flooding over 10, 000 ray (3, 953 acres ) of grain areas.

Officials have advised people moving their possessions to higher ground along the rivers.
