Meet Henry Ng, possibly the last lion head maker in Singapore

The stirring sound of drums and cymbals in Singapore indicates that a cat party effectiveness is about to start in the area. Although this athleticism is also prevalent here, especially during the Chinese New Year, what is less well known is that cat dance outfits are extremely difficult to find.

There is only one person they can trust for troupes looking for high-quality, beautiful, and light bear heads for their performances: Henry Ng, who is believed to be the last remaining cat head producer in Singapore.

Ng, a self-taught worker, has spent the past 50 years perfecting his ship and handcrafting lion heads, a rare find in this ultra-modern nation. In Singapore, it is not difficult to find a cat party master, but it is near impossible to find a cat head master artisan, he said.

Many Singaporeans who watched lion dance shows as a child would have seen his creations because they are so unique that regular performing troupes may identify them.
