A network of health workers yesterday submitted a letter to judges and United Nations representatives calling for the return of bail rights for detained political activists, citing treatment concerns.
In the letter, the network, which includes the Mor Mai Thon (Doctors Won’t Tolerate This) group, attached a list of 339 medical personnel and 500 others who support its call for better treatment.
It highlighted the health conditions of three detained activists on hunger strike — Tantawan Tuatulanon, Orawan Phuphong and Sitthichok Sethasavet.
Sorawit Limparangsi, spokesman for the Court of Justice, yesterday said arrest warrants and bail for the activists were decided by court judges without external interference.
The courts applied the same guidelines and standards in all cases to ensure equal treatment, he said.
