The most recent data was released by the government on Friday ( Nov 1 )

In 2023, 5.69 million relationship registrations were recorded for the first nine times, an increase from 2022.

Growing financial uncertainty and rising living costs have forced some young couples to delay union, which is a worrying sign for legislators who have been pushing guidelines to improve a shrinking population.

China recently updated a draft law to make marriage registration easier for lovers, while divorce filing will become more difficult.
